Slice 67 - Next Agent Brief Freshness

Scope#

Keep docs/python-port/next-agent-brief.md aligned with the newest Python port slice before future agents resume from a compacted context.

Finding#

The next-agent brief had accumulated useful current-state detail, but its top checkpoint still said the latest implementation slice was slice 62 after slices 63 through 66 had already landed. The worklog and verification notes were newer, so the issue was not missing history; it was an unguarded recovery summary.

Decision#

The next-agent brief now states the latest implementation slice directly in the current-state section. Public-contract tests discover the highest docs/python-port/slice-N-*.md file and require that section to mention the matching slice number.

Guard#

tests/test_public_contract.py now includes test_next_agent_brief_tracks_latest_python_port_slice().

Cosmic Python Note#

Chapter 4 frames the service layer as the main way into an application's use cases. The transfer here is test shape: the test drives the public steering contract directly instead of checking incidental markdown fragments elsewhere.
